Celebrating 100 years of dispute resolution
Since its establishment in 1917, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of commerce (SCC) has developed into one of the world’s leading forums for international dispute resolution. In its Centennial year, the SCC celebrates the importance of international arbitration for trade, economic development and peaceful resolution of disputes.
In January 2017, the celebration kicked off with the premiere of The Quiet Triumph – How arbitration changed the world, a documentary film portraying the role of arbitration in world affairs. The premiere was followed by a grand gala dinner. The next day, a half day symposium highlighted the close relationship between arbitration and peace. In relation with the symposium, a book on the same topic was launched.
As of the 1 January 2017 the new SCC Arbitration Rules and SCC Rules for Expedited Arbitration entered into force. The new sets of rules include a number of noteworthy revisions and innovations, which will make arbitration more user-friendly as the SCC enters the second century.
Here you can find everything about the celebration and the SCCS way forward! And last, but not least, thanks to all of our guest for attending the SCC Centennial celebrations in Stockholm on 19-20 January 2017!
