Successful first inaugural Nordic Arbitration Day
On 18 January, 227 young arbitration practitioners from around the Nordics and beyond met up in Stockholm for the first inaugural Nordic Arbitration Day.
In the beautiful Stora Salongen at Berns, with its 12 metre ceiling height, period details, and enormous crystal chandeliers, the audience was treated to a day packed with interesting discussions and debates on various arbitration-related topics, including Blockchain Arbitration – Will we have self-enforceable awards in the future?, Would you challenge? – Due process in arbitration and Institutional vs. Ad hoc arbitration. The Nordic Arbitration Day’s Soap Box Debate finished off with a roasting of the Nordic peoples and lots of laughter!
The event was jointly organized by the young arbitration associations in the Nordic region (YAS, YAC, YACF, YAPN and Iceland) with the aim of bringing the young Nordic arbitration community closer together. The event most certainly met this expectation while managing to be enriching and interesting also to participants from outside the Nordic region.
A pre-conference cocktail took place at the SCC in the evening before the conference.
From the photos it is clear that the participants enjoyed the conference which kept a young and innovative vibe!
The Nordic Arbitration Day will next be held in Copenhagen in 2020. Stay tuned for further details on the date and venue.
