Revised SCC Arbitrator’s Guidelines
The newest edition of the SCC Arbitrator’s Guidelines includes information on the SCC Platform and a new section with recommendations on the content and structure of awards.
The Guidelines have aim to facilitate and streamline the SCC procedure and serve as a practical tool and source of information for arbitrators appointed in SCC arbitrations. They contain information about the conduct of SCC arbitrations, and answer commonly asked questions about case administration, arbitration costs, timelines, and common VAT situations.
The revised edition of the SCC Arbitrator’s Guidelines, published in October 2019, includes information on case administration on the SCC Platform, and a new section has been added that provides some tips and recommendations on the structure and content of awards. The form language for mandatory statutory notices has been updated to reflect recent changes in Swedish arbitration law. A template for a final award, including some standard language, is attached as an appendix.
As noted in the section on arbitrator fees and expenses, the SCC will now reimburse arbitrators for the cost of carbon offsetting their flights to hearings. In this way, the SCC hopes to encourage arbitrators to use online services to compensate for the climate change impact of arbitration-related travel.
The Guidelines are published in English only; a model award in Swedish is included in the English version.
Separate guidelines for the SCC Platform are available to parties upon login.
In addition to the Arbitrator’s Guidelines, a variety of articles, practice notes and other resources are available in the Digital Library.
