Events recognizing the revised Swedish Arbitration Act

On 20 May 2019, SCC and the Swedish Arbitration Association (SAA) organised a half-day conference and a gala dinner in Stockholm, in recognition of the revised Swedish Arbitration Act, which entered into force on March 1.

More than one hundred participants from Sweden and some foreign guests gathered at the Grand Hotel to discuss topics related to Sweden’s recent legislative revisions. The first panel focused on the key revisions to the Act, which all agreed were relatively minor and intended to enhance arbitration efficiency, effectiveness and transparency. The topic for the second panel was developments in Swedish arbitration practice, including court procedures, SCC rules and practice. A lively debate centered on Stockholm’s relative merits as a seat for international arbitrations.

The half day conference took place at the renowned  Grand Hôtel, and was followed by a gala dinner at the Opera Terrace. Noah Rubins of Freshfields (Paris) gave the dinner keynote.
