London: SCC discusses EU investment court proposal
On February 5, SCC Legal Counsel Anja Havedal Ipp spoke at the third annual conference of the European Federation for Investment Law and Arbitration (EFILA), which gathered more than 100 lawyers and academics at the Senate House of the University of London.
Topics of discussion included non-disputing third parties and their influence on arbitration, investment regulation and arbitration, and human rights, environment and arbitration. Ms Havedal Ipp participated in a panel discussing a keynote speech by Judge Charles N. Bower, entitled "Why the EU Investment Court System Is Destined To Fail Foreign Investors And Host States Alike?" Other panelists were Cherie Blair QC and Dirk Pulkowski of the PCA.
