15th anniversary of the ICAL Program celebrated
On 7 November 2018, more than 100 participants gathered on board the Theater Ship in Stockholm for an international arbitration conference titled “Navigating the Muddy Waters of International Arbitration”.
The conference celebrated the 15th anniversary of Stockholm University’s top-ranked master program in International Commercial Arbitration Law (ICAL). Organized by the ICAL Alumni Association, including SCC Legal Counsel Alison Tibell, the event took place in conjunction with the Global Orals of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Moot Competition.
The conference opened with a keynote by independent arbitrator Mark Kantor. The fist panel discussion focused on “Hot topics and recent developments in arbitration” – including the Achmea case, the impact of GDPR on arbitral proceedings, and the Prague Rules. Other panels centered on topics related to public interests in international arbitration, shareholders’ rights in arbitration, and how to handle parallel proceedings. More information about the conference is available on the ICAL Alumni Association’s website.
