ICAL student Kirsten Teo-Delalay named Global Swede

Kirsten Teo-Delalay from Singapore was awarded Global Swede by the Government Offices of Sweden. She is a master student of International Commercial Arbitration Law (ICAL) at Stockholm University, and an intern at the SCC during the spring of 2017.

Global Swede is an initiative by the Swedish Institute, a government agency that works to promote Sweden around the world. The award is a way to honor young international students in Sweden who are outstanding in their field. Ms Teo-Delalay was among 21 students who received the award in 2017.

The award motivation states:

“Kirsten Teo-Delalay is an exceptional student in the Master of International Commercial Arbitration Law programme. During her studies, Kirsten has stood out as not only the best student in the class, but also as the most engaged, enthusiastic and community-minded student. She embodies the characteristics of a ‘Global Swede’…”

During the spring 2017, Ms Teo-Delalay had an internship at the SCC where she assisted the secretariat in research and case administration. She took also part at the The Centennial Symposium: Arbitrating for Peace and presented one of the case studies.

“I feel blessed to be part of not only the Swedish international arbitration community, but now also the Global Swede network. It also means bringing home the tradition of fika and crayfish parties, a greater understanding of life in Sweden, and a profound appreciation of spring and summer,” she told the SCC.
