Addressing international arbitration in Iran and Sweden
On 13 September 2017, around 130 guests attended an international seminar on doing business in Iran. The SCC hosted the event together with Tehran Regional Arbitration Center (TRAC), Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and International Chamber of Commerce Sweden.
This was the second time the SCC organized a seminar with TRAC, after a successful event last year in Tehran. The seminar this year took place at SCC premises in Stockholm and consisted of two panels. The first one addressed sanctions, financing and regulations and was moderated by Erik Belfrage, former diplomat and Senior Vice President at SEB. Meanwhile, the second one talked about international arbitration in Sweden and Iran, moderated by Johan Sidklev, Partner at Roschier in Stockholm.
“Iran used to be an important market for Swedish business and the interest for regaining business relations between the two countries is high" Ms. Annette Magnusson noted in her opening remarks. This was also reflected in the high number of participants at the event. Ms. Magnusson also said that “We are very happy to continue this collaboration with the Tehran Regional Arbitral Centre”, referring to the event co-hosted by TRAC and SCC in Tehran in 2016.
The SCC and TRAC are now planning a new similar event in Iran next year.
