Draft Arbitration Rules 2017 and draft Rules for Expedited Arbitrations 2017 available for comments
In preparation for its centennial anniversary, the SCC continues to strengthen and innovate its procedures by making a comprehensive revision of its rules. The Rules Revision Committee now presents the draft Arbitration Rules 2017 and draft Rules for Expedited Arbitrations. Read the proposals below, and join the hearing on 9 June 2016 in Stockholm.
Much has changed in the arbitration world since the SCC last revised its rules in 2010, introducing the provisions on the appointment of an Emergency Arbitrator. The arbitration community has seen the rise of transparency rules for investor-state disputes, complex multi-party disputes, and the users’ call for yet more cost-efficient procedures and for addressing tribunal-secretary relationships.
In September 2014, the SCC Board appointed a Committee with the task to revise the SCC Rules. The Committee is composed of:
- Jakob Ragnwaldh (Chairperson),
- Yas Banifatemi,
- Magnus Bernro,
- Emmanuelle Cabrol,
- Kristin Campbell-Wilson,
- Christer Danielsson,
- James Hope,
- Toby Landau QC,
- Barton Legum,
- William McKechnie,
- Bo G.H. Nilsson,
- Lucy Reed,
- Klaus Reichert SC,
- Patricia Shaughnessy,
- Johan Sidklev,
- Tatyana Slipachuk,
- Natalie Voser and
- Anne-Marie Whitesell
Celeste E. Salinas Quero was appointed secretary to the Committee.
The work of the Committee has resulted in draft Arbitration Rules 2017 and draft Rules for Expedited Arbitrations, available here:
