SCC Deputy Secretary General Kristin Campbell-Wilson in the IBA Arb40 Steering Committee
On 1 January 2016, Deputy Secretary General Kristin Campbell-Wilson joined as member of the IBA Arb40 Steering Committee on a two-year-term.
The IBA Arb40 Subcommittee is a youth organisation for arbitration practitioners. It was formed in 2014 under the auspices of the IBA Arbitration Committee with the objective to provide a platform within the Arbitration Committee for the younger members of the global arbitration community to meet, exchange ideas and learn from peers and more experienced practitioners.
- I am honoured to join this group of young talented practitioners from around the world and look forward to contribute to the valuable work of the IBA Arb40 Steering Committee, says Kristin Campbell-Wilson.
The IBA Arb40 Steering Committee, which consists of 16 members, is actively involved in organising symposia for younger arbitration practitioners, providing a platform for outstanding younger practitioners to lead advocacy workshops and be involved in panel discussions on issues of significance to the next generation of arbitration practitioners. During its first two years of existence, the IBA Arb40 Steering Committee also issued the extensive report The Current State and Future of International Arbitration - Regional Perspectives. Read the report here.
The co-chairmanship of the IBA Arb40 Steering Committee was handed over from Ms. Catherine Amirfar (US State Department, previously Debevoise & Plimpton, New York) and Mr. Julien Fouret (Betto Seraglini, Paris) to Ms. Angeline Welsh (Matrix Chambers, London) and Ms. Swee Yen Koh (Wong Partnership, Singapore) on 1 January 2016.
- Catherine and Julien have done a fantastic job of leading the work of the Steering Committee and in establishing the IBA Arb40 Subcommittee as a leading youth organisation in the field of international arbitration. It will be an inspiring task to carry on the promotion and development of the profession under the leadership of Angeline and Swee Yen, adds Kristin.
