ECT Forum: The future of energy investment
The SCC atrium was full when speakers from institutions, leading energy companies and associations from all over the world discussed renewable energy, green technology and investment arbitration at the Stockholm Energy Charter Treaty Forum.
During the day, the some 20 speakers including UNCTAD's Joakim Reiter (see his keynote speech here) discussed among other things the need of and ways to promote energy investments, and features of the role of the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT) for reducing investment risk, as well as the dispute settlement mechanism under the ECT, and current trends on International Investment Agreements (IIA:s).
“Energy investments and the development of new energy sources are topical, interesting and often crucial issues for investors, governments and financial institutions. The Energy Charter Treaty Forum serves as a meeting point for different perspectives on the field, and we are delighted to see the great interest this has generated among both visitors and speakers”, says Annette Magnusson, SCC Secretary General.
The four sessions included:
(: Opening remarks)
