SCC in Warsaw: Enhancing environmental protection through ISDS
SCC’s Annette Magnusson will speak during a conference in Warsaw on 29 May on the future of investment arbitration focusing specifically on environmental protection.
Ms. Magnusson will participate in the roundtable “Challenges and Future of Investment Arbitration” discussing new territories in investment arbitration (e.g. space disputes and environmental protection), state to state arbitration and strategies for approaching and overcoming issues caused by states withdrawing from various investment-protection mechanisms. Ms. Magnusson will specifically talk about how ISDS (Investor-State Dispute settlement) can be used to enhance environmental protection and mitigate climate change.
The conference is organized by the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration and will feature several different panels focusing on the latest topics in international arbitration, among other things M&A and JV arbitration (mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures) will be discussed.
